Start of the TT season

Posted on 24th Mar 2017

Although its cold and windy at the moment, March marked the start of the TT season. This year I'm taking place in the Sporting Time Trial Series for the Bournemouth Arrows which marks a substantial step up from the NFCC's 10 series. Its essentially a league of open events where your best 11 places are counted. I missed the first few so I am riding catch up for the next few months. My first TT of the season was the Sotonia Leg Loosener on P182 which finishes on steep Pipers Wait. The conditions were harsh and the course "sporting" but I managed to finish 23rd out of 39 in a strong TT category where most of the riders had PB's much quicker than my own. Oscar Hutchings took the TT and overall win. The road bike category was won by rising young star Matt Downie. Over both categories I finished a respectable 37th out of 110 riders. It wasn't a bad performance considering I hadn't really recovered from last weeks man flu and I certainly felt the effects after the first couple of miles.
