1st NFCC Club win of 2017 on Thorney Hill

I was pleased to get my first NFCC TT win of 2017 on the picturesque Thorney Hill Circuit (P341) as its one of my favourite local TT courses. Its only fair to say that the freezing conditions and lumpy route may have put off a few of the fastest guys but it still needed to be ridden and it gives me a chance in the aggregate competition. Stuart Peckham, Stewart Ward and Andrew Hanley are likely to have something to say about that though and will no doubt want to turn things around. Starting on Thorney Hill, P341 descends quickly before a gradual uphill drag and then short descent into picturesque Burley. A strong westerly made this a nervous segment and horses on Pound Lane provided New Forest style traffic calming. After Burley comes a great quick but lumpy section before fighting the wind across Crow Moor and the descent of Crow Hill. That takes us over half way around and next is a long flat section towards Bransgore before the final climb up Braggers Lane to the finish. A great course if you can get a clear run through Burley but better in warmer conditions when your muscles don't freeze up. I think it would also make a nice 25, starting at the bottom of Crow Hill with 3 ascents of Braggers Lane and a finish at the top of the last one.
