Social out to the perfs pedal race.

Making the most of a rare sunny day, Phil G and I rode out to watch the Perfs Pedal Race for my second successive 100 miler. Setting off from Ringwood, we rode through the New Forest via Beaulieu, across Southampton Water on the Hythe ferry, then up to Boarhunt via Southampton and Fareham. The strong westerly aided the riders on Boarhunt Hill but the finishing stretch on Lodge Hill was described as "savage" and the sprints started in the final 100m. The race was won by Canyon Eisberg's Alex Paton from a two man sprint. The main group finished perhaps 30 seconds behind. Then our battle began with a 3 hour ride into a 23mph headwind which stung the legs at times and we hung for a no score draw.  [My Windsock] [Strava details] A nice social ride with a coffee stop at a rather smart garden café. Tough but it feels rewarding sat in an arm chair.100 miles, over 5000ft of elevation and an average speed of 17.8mph.
