2018 Cycling Trip to California

: For as long as I can remember, I've admired photos of the hanging valley of Yosemite and wondered about the giant trees in California. Therefore after much deliberation, I packed my aeroad, got up at 2.00am one morning and headed to Gatwick airport. The flight was delayed but the food on the plane was good and because of the time difference, we landed in San Francisco at 4.00pm. We collected our minivan (there was nothing mini about it), loaded up and headed to an overnighter on the outskirts of Monterey. After a breakfast of cakes, I set off to ride California's coastal highway called Big Sur only to discover my Di2 wasn't working. Despite trying to help, the LBS had no idea so I had no choice but to ride Big Sur singlespeed or miss the opportunity. Oh and by the way, it's not flat either; there are a few reasonable hills along highway one. It wasn't a great start, and I was worried the holiday would be ruined, but it was singlespeed or miss it. Because of the afternoon start, it was nearly dark by the time I met my wife at the Quality Inn, San Simeon.........
