I've heard it said when you start liking steam trains, you´re getting old. Oh dear. For me, steam trains represent the golden age of transport when travel was an adventure and not just a necessity. In late August we spent a day travelling on the Swanage to Norden railway and enjoyed a picnic lunch at Harmans Cross Station. The ruins of Corfe Castle, near the northern end of the line, provide a magnificient and timeless backdrop to the wonderful Corfe Castle station. There was a steam engine and a diesel engine operating and we went on both, including sitting in the "posh" 1st class compartments!
